Hundreds of graves have been dug in the Ukrainian city of Dnipro for future possible victims of coronavirus as mayor of the city Boris Filatov stated on his public Facebook page on Thursday.

Footage shows dozens of the prepared graves in one of the city cemeteries on Thursday.

"We are preparing for the worst. Not 400, but 600 graves were dug in the city cemeteries for the possible burial of the coronavirus dead. One-thousand thick plastic bags were bought for storing bodies,” Filatov outlined in the post.

The mayor also noted that in the near future autopsy of those with a coronavirus diagnosis or with suspicion of having the illness will be prohibited. The number of those who are present at the funerals will also be limited - no more than one person in an area of 10 square metres.

According to the latest data there are 10 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Ukraine has so far recorded 1,115 COVID-19 infections and 28 deaths, according to John Hopkins University data.
