
Russia: 6 reported injured as fire erupts on aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov
Six people were injured after a fire erupted on the aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov while it was docked in a ship repair centre in Murmansk, Russian emergency services reported on Thursday.
The fire occurred at 10:16 Moscow time (07:16 GMT) in the first energy compartment of the ship during welding operations. The fire spread to 120 square meters according EMERCOM, Russia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations.
Russia’s Defense Ministry reported that no ammunition or weapons were on board the vessel when the fire occurred.
According emergency services, one person remains missing in the fire still, though the ship repair centre denies that anyone is unaccounted for.
