Chile: Thousands march on presidential palace to protest against Pinera
Thousands marched to the La Moneda Palace in Santiago to protest against the government of Chilean President Sebastian Pinera on Wednesday.
Footage shows demonstrators marching through the centre of the Chilean capital carrying flags and posters calling for a change in government policies.
"I thank all the young people who gave us the strength for this. There was some cowardice before this. Not now, not today. I went out yesterday, I was affected by the bombs, I saw many things, but today I am here again and I am happy, happy," said a teacher that joined the protest.
"I feel happy to be part of a new Chile, and that we all are making a new story," added another protester.
The massive anti-government demonstrations in Chile were initially triggered by a metro fare hike which was later withdrawn. But protests continued with demands to address the rising cost of living, pension reform and alleged abuse of power by police.
