Spain: Inter's Conte bitter at referee Skomina after Barcelona defeat
Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte said that he had a "feeling of uneasiness" because of the referee Damir Skomina in his team's 2-1 loss to FC Barcelona in the Champions League, due to a denied penalty. Conte made the remarks in the post-match press conference in Barcelona on Wednesday.
"I am not using the referee as an alibi. But, I'm saying that there was a feeling of uneasiness on my side from the very start, because I saw certain situations being steered in a certain way," said Conte. "But then I might have been wrong. We're talking about a referee who was in the last Champions League final, we are talking about a top referee. I think that when you come to the Camp Nou - it is the Camp Nou."
Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde also shared his view on the matter, saying that he's also very defensive of his team.
"Look, I have a very big problem and that is that I always see everything in my team's favour. I can't change it, it always happens. I don't know if you understand me, I always see everything in Barcelona's favour. So, I don't think it was penalty and when someone falls in Inter's area it always looks like penalty to me. It is a problem and I cannot fix it," said Valverde.
FC Barcelona managed to beat Inter 2-1 at the Nou Camp in Barcelona. Inter's Lautaro Martinez opened the score, before Barcelona's Luis Suarez scored two goals to give the Blaugrana the win.
