UK: Protesters gather outside parliament ahead of crucial Brexit vote
Dozens of protesters gathered in front of the UK Parliament in London on Tuesday as MPs arrived for the first meeting following its summer break.
People were holding signs and banners reading "Boris no deal is ideal" and "Traitor parliament", one man was seen holding a painting of Queen Elizabeth II sword fighting John Simon Bercow, Speaker of the House of Commons, with US President Donald Trump hiding behind her cape. Some were seen with EU flags as well.
The recommencement will last for six days before a prorogation called by Prime Minister Boris Johnson will suspend parliament for five more weeks.
The five-week break will sharply curtail the opportunities for Members of Parliament to draft anti-no deal and anti-Brexit legislation, with parliamentarians expected to sit for only a little over a week from September 3rd, and not expected to return until October 14 for the Queen's speech.
