US President trump gave a statement in front of the White House in Washington DC on Thursday, ensuring citizens that everyone is "working very, very hard on hurricane Dorian" and cautioned them to "be aware and be safe."
"It hit the Virgin Islands but not as bad as it could have, but it really began to form, and form big and now it's looking like it could be an absolute monster. We're ready, we have the best people in the world ready and they are going to help you," the President said, adding that they will be shipping food and water but it may be that people will have to evacuate.
Trump cautioned that the storm could be “bigger, or at least as big as, Andrew, and if you remember Andrew from many years ago, that was not good.”
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency in 26 counties along the east coast of the state as hurricane Dorian is expected make landfall on continental United States over the weekend, possibly as a category 4 hurricane.
