Turkey: First woman to referee major UEFA final 'not afraid' of big occasion
Referee Stephanie Frappart said she and her team 'feel ready' ahead of the European Super Cup, in which she will become the first female official to preside over a major UEFA final, at a pre-game press conference in Istanbul on Tuesday.
Frappart will be joined by Michelle O'Neill from Ireland and her compatriot Manuela Nicolisi from France after the three officiated the Women's World Cup final in July.
"We train a lot all the time, we are not afraid about this game because we're always ready for all the games," Frappart told reporters. "Of course my life changes because I'm more popular now in all the world."
She pointed out that having officiated in France's Ligue 1, she knows the 'feeling, strategy and emotions' of the big occasions.
The first ever all-English UEFA Super Cup between European champions Liverpool and Europa League winners Chelsea is scheduled to take place on Wednesday at Istanbul's Vodafone Park.
