USA: R Kelly pleads not guilty to sex crime charges as bail is denied again
US R&B star R Kelly plead not guilty to charges of racketeering and sex trafficking in a federal court in New York City on Friday.
The artist was denied bail for a second time and is facing a string of charges including racketeering, kidnapping, forced labour and sexual exploitation of a child, with state and federal charges being laid against him in multiple jurisdictions.
Footage shows two women who have described themselves as Kelly's girlfriends, Azriel Clary and Joycelyn Savage, arriving and leaving the court. The families of both women allege that they have been brainwashed by the singer and that their relationships are not consensual.
The singer, who has faced sexual assault allegations for decades, made headlines after a 2019 documentary detailed accusations of a "sex cult" which allegedly involved isolating victims - including minors - from friends and family and subjecting them to degrading acts.
