Christie's Auction House introduced the "Maharajas & Mughal Magnificence" sale where about 400 storied treasures from a collection of Indian royal jewels and artefacts belonging to the ruling family of Qatar, Al Thani, will be auctioned at the Rockefeller Centre in New York City, footage filmed on Thursday shows.
Rahul Kadakia, International Head of Jewellery at Christie's, explained that they have a "range of jewels, jewelled weapons, jewelled objects, miniatures, daggers, swords that range in date from 500 years ago to present day."
The selection includes 'The Nizam of Hyderabad Necklace', an antique diamond, emerald and enamel piece from mid to late 19th century, which is expected to fetch between $1,500,000 (€1,325,460) and $2,500,000 (€2,209,100).
The pieces will be offered at a landmark auction on June 19, and prices will range from $10,000 (€8,836) to $10,000,000 (€8,836,420).
