Spain: 'Messi still amazes me' - Barca boss Valverde after 3-0 victory over Liverpool
FC Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde spoke to the press after his team's 3-0 victory over Liverpool in their Champions League semi-final in Barcelona on Wednesday.
"Well we are not gotta lie here. Every time you score 1 goal and the opponent doesn't score is a good result. It is clear that they pushed us to the limit in the second half and we had to suffer to keep a clean sheet but we did it," said Valverde.
However, he was wary about the chances of his team to be already qualified for the final, reminding everyone that "last year we went to Rome with a three goals advantage and we got eliminated. We have no reason to relax. We got a great result tonight without doubt but the fight is still open."
Finally, Valverde praised the man of the match Lionel Messi who scored his 600th goal for Barcelona: "Messi still amazes me. The free kick was too far away and I didn't know if he was gonna kick it to the first or second post. I don't know how he does it but he always scores."
Next Tuesday Barcelona will play in Liverpool for the second leg of the semi-final.
