
Russia: Kangaroo baby nurtured in hat in Saint Petersburg
In Saint Petersburg employee of the Leningrad zoo Elena Vasilyeva feeds and bears a baby kangaroo, which refused by mother, as shown in footage filmed on Tuesday.
"In nature and also in zoos there are cases of violations of maternal behaviour, therefore... In nature, the animal would have died. In zoos, we try to get these babies out," she said.
Now Elena wears a kangaroo in an improvised "bag" - in a woolen hat on her chest. The main thing, as she says, that the materials were natural.
When the kangaroo grows up - now it weighs 700 grams, and it is necessary at least one and a half kilograms - it will be placed in the enclosure to other kangaroos.
