
UN: Zakharova denounces 'fabricated criminal case' against RIA Novosti editor at UN media panel
Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova denounced the 'ridiculous accusations' in the 'fabricated criminal case' against RIA Novosti Ukraine Editor-in-Chief Kirill Vyshinsky, while speaking at a UN panel on the role of the media in democracy in New York City on Tuesday.
Zakharova added that the Ukrainian authorities had followed a "path of systematic repressions against unwanted journalists."
The event was be attended by delegates from the 41st session of the UN General Assembly Committee on Information, students from Columbia University, experts from participating countries, the UN Secretariat, the UNESCO Office in New York, and journalists.
