
Afghanistan: President Ghani marks 27th anniversary of 'Jihad' victory
Afghan President Ashraf Ghani marked the '27th anniversary of the Victory of the Afghan People's Jihad' while speaking at a ceremony in Kabul on Sunday.
"Jihad is the pride of the Afghan people. It was a saga, it was a duty, it was a miracle, therefore it is everyone's duty to be proud of the Jihad," said the Afghan President.
Ghani also discussed the hardships and the human and economic costs of the Afghan war, while he emphasised the need for the Afghan people to stay united in the face of hardship and division.
"We need to learn from our past and learn things from the world and stay united with each other," he concluded.
