Mexico: AMLO keeps campaign promise to sell government fleet of aircraft
The Mexican government has put 38 aircraft up for sale, with members of the public invited to see the machines on the runway at Santa Maria military base on Friday.
The sales fulfil a campaign promise of President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador who criticized his predecessors for wasting public funds on the aircraft.
The contract for auctioning off the 33 helicopters and five fixed-wing aircraft has gone to the United Nations Office for Project Services, commonly known as UNOPS, to ensure a public perception of transparency.
Offers are welcome from private, public and corporate bidders.
