Jordan: UN's Guterres reiterates support for two-state solution at WEF
United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres reiterated his support for the two-state solution between Israel and Palestine, with Jerusalem as a shared capital, during a speech at the world Economic Forum in Jordan on Saturday.
"The United Nations is deeply engaged in a surge of diplomacy for peace, not always successful, I must confess, to untie the Gordian knot of conflict and instability," he said. "Resolving the region's conflicts is an imperative, including the two-state solution, with Israel and Palestine living side by side in peace, with secure and recognized borders, and with Jerusalem as capital of the two countries."
The 17th World Economic Forum on the Middle East and North Africa at the Dead Sea, Jordan will bring together more than 1,000 leaders of government, business, civil society, faith and academia under the theme "Building New Platforms of Cooperation."
