Iran: 'Inhumane' US sanctions a 'crime against humanity' says Rouhani
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani called US sanctions on Iran "a crime against humanity," during a speech on state TV on Sunday, speaking from the Iranian province of Bushehr.
Rouhani condemned what he described as "inhumane, illegal sanctions" against Iran, arguing that they "will not fulfill their objectives."
He went on to say: "The Americans did not want us to inaugurate any important projects this year. But we could inaugurate all of these projects according to the schedule. It means the failure of the US and the victory of the great nation of Iran."
Rouhani has reportedly inaugurated four new phases of South Pars, the world's largest gas field which located in the Persian Gulf, on Sunday.
Iran is set to boost its gas production capacity by up to 110 million cubic metres per day. According to an Iranian oil ministry's statement, Tehran has invested some $11 billion (€9.69 billion) to conclude the four phases of South Pars.
