UK: Second meaningful vote on May’s Brexit deal to be held on Tuesday
Conservative MP and junior Brexit Minister Robin Walker confirmed another "meaningful vote" on Brexit will take place in the House of Commons on Tuesday, while addressing MPs in the House of Commons on Monday.
"We will be holding the meaningful vote tomorrow and of course, exactly what it's brought forward by the government will depend on the outcome of the negotiations which are still ongoing," said Walker.
Answering whether he would vote against no deal should PM Theresa May's deal be voted down on Tuesday, he replied: "I want to take the first opportunity to vote against a no deal by voting for the deal in a meaningful vote. That is the best way to secure the absence of no deal and to secure the interests of this country."
Walker updated MPs on the ongoing Brexit crisis on behalf of May, who participated at a Commonwealth service at Westminster Abbey before heading to Strasbourg for last-minute talks with EU officials.
The Prime Minister vowed to hold a further vote on no-deal on Wednesday, should her meaningful vote fail on Tuesday.
