
China: Xiaomi's new Mi 9 flagship phone may be its last under $450
Xiaomi officially launched the Mi 9, the company’s latest flagship phone starting at RMB 2999 ($446, €394), in Beijing on Wednesday. CEO Lei Jun said it may be the last Xiaomi flagship phone under 3,000 RMB.
Mi 9 runs using the leading Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 mobile platform, comes with a new triple camera containing the latest 48-megapixel Sony sensor, and is the world’s first smartphone to feature 20 watt wireless charging.
According to Lei Jun, the 27W wired charging supports Qualcomm’s QC4+ as standard, and enables Mi 9 to safely charge to 70 percent in just 30 minutes, and fully charge within an hour.
In addition, Xiaomi is also launching three wireless charging devices, including a 20W version of the Mi Wireless Charging Pad, a 20W wireless car charger, and a 10000mAh wireless power bank.
Except for the Mi 9, the other phones in the series were also unveiled, the transparent Edition and Mi 9 SE.
The Mi 9 series goes on sale in China on 26 February.
