
Israel: Golan Heights Druze rally on 37th anniv. of National Open Strike against Israeli occupation
Members of the Druze community in the occupied Golan Heights held a rally on Thursday to mark the 37th anniversary of 1982 National Open Strike against the Israeli occupation.
Clad in traditional garb, protesters marched through the village of Majdal Shams to the Syrian border.
Political activist Qasem Al-Safadi said the protest was about defending the Syrian Arab national identity and rejecting the Israeli occupation.
"We promise to God, the homeland, our people, our army and our leadership represented by the president Bashar Al- Asad that we are going to stay faithful to the pledge and defending our homeland until its liberation from the Zionist occupier," he said.
The national strike was called on 14th of February 1982 and lasted for six months.
