Belgium: Mogherini hails '95 percent' common ground with Arab League
The EU’s Foreign Affairs Chief Federica Mogherini hailed reaching 95 percent "common ground" with the Secretary General of the League of Arab States (LAS) Ahmed Aboul Gheit and Sudanese Foreign Minister Al-Dirdiri Mohamed Ahmed during a press conference in Brussels on Monday, following the fifth EU-Arab League ministerial meeting.
Mogherini said the ministers agreed on up to 95 percent of issues including "support to political transition in Syria" and "recognition of Jerusalem as the future capital of both the State of Palestine and Israel."
Mogherini continued to say that the ministers "didn't discuss specific situations inside Syria," but reached eye to eye on "the willingness to support the full implementation of the UN Security Council resolutions, the starting or the strengthening of political process on the EU leadership."
The first EU-LAS summit will be held on February 24 to 25 in Egypt.
