      A gunman opened fire on a crowd in the French city of Bastia, on the Corsica island, on Wednesday, killing one person and injuring six more.

      The man reportedly began shooting in Bastia's Montesoro neighbourhood at around 16:35 local time (15:45 GMT) before retreating into a house.
