Iraq: Basra opens its first rehabilitation centre for drug addicts
The first rehabilitation centre for drug addicts was opened in one of Basra's military training camps last week, aiming to tackle the drug consumption and sales that have spiked in the city in the last decade, as footage filmed on Monday shows.
A major in charge of the center Fuad Muhsin, said that the facility is currently hosting 40 patients who are undergoing treatment scheduled for three months.
During this period, the residents of the centre also get involved into sports and healthcare activities.
"We want the patients to rehab and resume living in a healthy society and restore them from depression and agony," added Muhsin.
