
Christmas beyond borders: Father Frost and Finnish Santa Claus hold traditional meeting
Russia’s Father Frost from Veliky Ustyug and Finnish Santa Claus Joulupukki met in the Russian-Finnish border at the Brusnichnoye checkpoint, Leningrad Region, on Thursday.
The santas exchanged gifts and took part in a musical performance, as children dressed as elves danced around the duo.
The event was part of the “Christmas begins with border” campaign, which is being held for the third year running.
The campaign’s goal is to provide opportunities and cooperation to both sides and to symbolically open the Christmas season.
