At least 10 people were reportedly killed and 19 more were wounded after a suicide bombing and subsequent gun battle at the compound of British security firm G4S in eastern Kabul on Wednesday.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, which began with a car bomb and was then followed up by attackers on foot.

The attack came just hours after Afghan President Ashraf Ghani laid out his roadmap for peace negotiations with the Taliban at an international conference in Gevena, Switzerland.

G4S is contracted by the UK government to provide security services for its personnel and buildings in Afghanistan, including the British Embassy in Kabul.
