Italy: Protesters block Salvini from paying tribute to killed teen in Rome
Italian Interior Minister Matteo Salvini was stopped by feminist protesters on his way to pay tribute to the killed 16-year-old Desiree Mariottini in Rome on Wednesday.
Protesters chanted and blocked Salvini just 20 metres (65 feet) away from the entrance of the building where the girl was killed.
"I have a rose in my car. I would have brought it if these stupid people were elsewhere," Salvini said, promising his supporters that he would come again "without telling these people."
One of his supporters said "we are tired of these migrants that stay here. We are in the middle of chaos with people that came here in Italy to bring just problems."
According to local media, the 16-year-old was drugged and raped before being killed by a group of migrants in a building occupied by homeless people and migrants in the capital's San Lorenzo district.
