Citizens of Makhachkala commented on Khabib Nurmagomedov's win over Conor McGregor prior to meeting their champion at the Anzhi Arena stadium on Monday.

Nurmagomedov's supporters commented on the fight which started moments after the game, when Khabib jumped out of the Octagon and lashed out at one of McGregor's teammates.

"Anyone who is familiar with the Caucasus knows that it's customary to answer for all words. If you can't answer what you have said then you cannot say it," one fan said.

"We all understand that not only in the Caucasus but in all of Russia, every man understands that if the honour of his family was hurt, then it must be answered," a Makhachkala resident said.

"I do not blame him [Khabib]. He did everything right. I am proud of him. Khabib has done well, he is a champion," another fan said.

Khabib Nurmagomedov defeated Conor McGregor by rear submission in the fourth round at UFC 229 in Las Vegas on Sunday.

Nurmagomedov managed to preserve his undefeated record, now at 27-0, by forcing McGregor to tap out due to rear naked choke in the fourth round.
