UK: Alex Salmond denies sexual misconduct claims
Former Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond denied sexual allegations of sexual harassment made against him, in an interview with RT from Edinburgh on Friday.
"I have refuted the complaints that were made against me and I absolutely deny any semblance of criminality," said Salmond.
The ex-leader of the Scottish National Party (SNP), who spearheaded the independence referendum of 2014, has since opened legal action against permanent secretary to the Scottish government Leslie Evans for her handling of the inquiry.
Salmond said he had tried 'mediation', 'conciliation' and 'arbitration', in order to reach agreement with the government and his accusers.
The allegations, which date back to December 2013, involve two staff members at the first minister's official residence of Bute House in Edinburgh.
The complaints were made in January 2018 and became public following an investigation by Evans.
