SOT, Ingrid, Venezuelan migrant from Valencia city (Spanish): "Yesterday."

SOT, reporter (Spanish): "Did you come walking from Santa Helena or what?"

SOT, Ingrid, Venezuelan migrant from Valencia city (Spanish): "No, from right there, since we missed the bus, the bus ticket offices were already closed, so we had to come over this side in order to get here."

SOT, Ingrid, Venezuelan migrant from Valencia city (Spanish): "Yes."

SOT, reporter (Spanish): "What is your hope in Brazil, would you like to go back to Venezuela?"

SOT, Ingrid, Venezuelan migrant from Valencia city (Spanish): "A good future for the kids."

SOT, reporter (Spanish): "And the situation is not bad?"

SOT, Ingrid, Venezuelan migrant from Valencia city (Spanish): "No, it's really good but here we are, fighting. We must fight for them, they are the little ones."

SOT, Jorge Via Franque, Venezuelan migrant (Spanish): "I have been travelling for five days already."

SOT, reporter (Spanish): "From which city in Venezuela did you come from?"

SOT, Jorge Via Franque, Venezuelan migrant (Spanish): "Madurin, Boqueron, Bonagas."

SOT, reporter (Spanish): "How's the situation over there, why did you decide to come to Brazil?"

SOT, Jorge Via Franque, Venezuelan migrant (Spanish): "Well, I have a daughter, she is going to start school and doesn't even have a pair of shoes, I left her without shoes and the classes restarted again this term."

SOT, reporter (Spanish): "And what do you expect from your life here in Brazil?"

SOT, Jorge Via Franque, Venezuelan migrant (Spanish): "To progress. To progress because I was told that here there are plenty of opportunities, that's why I came."

SOT, reporter (Spanish): "What's your name?"

SOT, Jorge Via Franque, Venezuelan migrant (Spanish): "Jorge Via Franque."

SOT, reporter (Spanish): "Where do you plan to go to, Boa Vista?"

SOT, Jorge Via Franque, Venezuelan migrant (Spanish): "Manaus, Boa Vista, Porto Belo and so on."

Venezuelan migrants were seen crossing into Brazil on Tuesday after the government pledged to deploy troops to ensure order, following recent reported attacks on migrants in the border town of Pacaraima.

People crossed the border at Pacaraima, holding their children and belongings, where they expressed hopes for the future.

Ingrid, a Venezuelan migrant from Valencia, crossed the Brazilian border with her two children. She said she had left Venezuela to ensure a better future for her family. "We must fight for them, they are the little ones."

Another Venezuelan migrant, Jorge Via Franque, said he heard that there are "plenty of opportunities" in Brazil.

"I have a daughter, she is going to start school and doesn't even have a pair of shoes, I left her without shoes and the classes restarted again this term," stated Via Franque.

Last week, Pacaraima residents reportedly attacked Venezuelan migrants, forcing them to flee back to their home country. They attacked and destroyed migrants’ shelters and belongings, even forcing some to run over the border into the foothills.

The attacks came after a local restaurant owner was allegedly beaten up and robbed by four Venezuelans.

While police are yet to identify the culprit, forces from Rio have been deployed to Pacaraima to keep order.
