      Argentina: Police raid ex-president Fernandez's building

      Argentina's Federal Police raided two apartments in the building of former President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, in Buenos Aires on Monday, searching for money as part of the case into alleged corruption during her administration.

      The officers were unable to enter Kirchner's apartment due to her privileges as a legislator in the Senate. They could however look into two other apartments belonging to Osvaldo De Sousa, the brother of businessman Fabian De Sousa who is currently detained and known to be close to the ex-president.

      The search warrant follows the opening of an investigation based on photocopies of notes, allegedly owned by a driver for the Ministry of Planification. The driver says that he delivered more than $160 million (€140 million) in cash to the residence.

      The case involves several officials and businessmen, who allegedly took part in a corruption scheme to benefit from public work contracts.

      Ex-Argentinian President Fernandez has denied the corruption charges.
