
Russia: Kolarov stunner free kick gives Serbia win over Costa Rica
Serbia's captain Aleksandar Kolarov scored a stunning free kick goal to give his team the win against Costa Rica in Samara on Sunday.
In a match that was largely levelled in terms of performance, it was Kolarov's gem that stood out and made the difference. Towards the end of the match, minor scuffles erupted between Serbia's Nemanja Matic and the manager of Costa Rica Oscar Ramirez, after the latter tried to withhold the ball when it went out of play.
Serbia is in Group E, alongside Brazil, Switzerland and Costa Rica. Its next match will be against Switzerland in Kaliningrad on June 22.
