Venezuelan presidential candidate Henri Falcon said on Sunday that he does not recognise Nicolas Maduro’s recent victory in the presidential elections.

"The process has raised serious questions, serious questions on our part, and without a doubt lacks legitimacy, and in that sense we do not know this process, and I take responsibility for what I am saying", said Falcon.

"It is obligatory for us to denounce the agreement signed, as unfulfilled and non-existent, and we do not recognise this process as valid", he added.

On Sunday, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro was re-elected for a second six-year term in office.

According to the country's election board,Maduro took 67.7 percent of the vote, while his closest rival retired serviceman Henri Falcon came second place with 21.2 percent, and Javier Bertucci with 10 percent.
