According to Kunaev, five injured were delivered to the hospital, one of whom was released shortly after the checkup. Others remain in "moderately grave condition" with compound wounds, concussions, and barotraumas.

Earlier in the day, the blast hit the Perekrestok supermarket in the Gigant Hall leisure centre, which left ten people injured. The blast occurred at around 15:30 GMT.

Police, emergency services, the Federal Security Service, and the Russian Investigative Committee are at the scene. The exact cause of the incident is currently under investigation by the Russian Investigative Committee and the National Anti-terrorism Committee (NAC). It is allegedly being treated as a potential mass homicide attempt.
