
Russia: 142 miners already brought to surface - EMERCOM chief on Mirni mine operation
Head of the Sakha Republic Egor Borisov confirmed that 142 people had already been to the surface, since a diamond mine in the eastern Russian region of Yakutia flooded on Friday. He was speaking alongside the head of Russian EMERCOM Vladimir Puchkov in Mirni, Saturday.
For his part, Puchkov underlined that all the miners "who were brought out to the surface today will be additionally examined by doctors and will undergo comprehensive medical examination".
According to Alrosa, the flooding took place at 16:30 local time (14:30 GMT) on Friday. Some eight miners are believed to still be missing.
