France: Macron welcomes Poroshenko to Elysee Palace for meetings
France:
French President Emmanuel Macron and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko met at the Elysee Palace, in Paris, Monday to discuss bilateral issues and, with a particular focus on the situation in the eastern Ukraine.
In May, while speaking to the press at a G7 summit in Taormina, Italy, Macron commented on Russia's relationship with the Ukraine, saying he would seek out dialogue with Moscow on the issue.
"I will have a demanding dialogue with Russia but that still means having a dialogue," he said, "Russia has indeed invaded Ukraine. There is a process, the Minsk process, that clearly shows the will for de-escalation and for overseeing the crisis' exit strategy."
