
France: Knife-wielding man arrested after threatening police in Paris’ Gare du Nord
A man was arrested in Paris' Gare du Nord, Saturday, after he threatened police with a knife, in one of the biggest and busiest train stations in the French capital. Following the incident police ordered the man to the ground, he subsequently obliged and was arrested.
Passengers were evacuated and the station was cordoned off by the police following the incident, according to local media.
The incident comes one day before the first round of the presidential elections, scheduled for Sunday, amid heightened security measures across the French capital.
On Thursday, one police officer was killed and two others injured during a deadly shooting at the Champs-Elysees in central Paris.
