UK: Mourners lay flowers for victims of St. Petersburg blast outside Russian embassy

Mourners laid flowers at a vigil in front of the Russian embassy in London, Monday, in honour of the victims of the St. Petersburg metro explosion.

A man who came to pay tribute to the victims of the attack, claimed that "these are the terrorist acts that have swept Europe, [the ones] that took place two weeks ago in London, and have now reached Russia, St. Petersburg in particular. It is an abhorrent situation."

A Russian woman who also came to pay her respects to the victims of the attack said that "despite the fact that we are several thousand kilometres away from our homeland, our hearts are with our fellow countrymen."

Earlier in the day, a blast rocked the St. Petersburg metro network when an unidentified explosive device went off on a train between Sennaya and Institute of Technology metro stations, at 14:40 local time (11:40 GMT). Latest death tolls indicate that at least 10 people were killed in the explosion and dozens more were injured.

Russia's Investigative Committee has confirmed that they have opened a criminal investigation into the incident.
