
Russia: Putin announces establishment of new anti-doping system
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that a new anti-doping system is to be established in Russia, during a meeting on the preparations for the 2019 World Winter Universiade, in Krasnoyarsk, Wednesday.
According to Putin, the government will hand over the anti-doping activities to an independent organisation established at Moscow State University.
Putin stressed that Russia “will also do everything possible to build meaningful cooperation with all our counterparts, including WADA [World Anti-Doping Agency] and the International Olympic Committee [IOC].”
The instructions to set up a national anti-doping laboratory at Moscow State University were issued by Putin in November 2016.
