USA: Writers hold vigil for freedom of speech outside White House
Hundreds of writers from across the US rallied outside the White House, in Washington DC, Saturday, to hold a vigil for freedom of speech and expression, enshrined in the First Amendment to the United States Constitution.
The vigil was held on the last day of the annual Association of Writers and Writing Programs (AWP) conference and book fair, where the topic of Donald Trump's presidency was heavily discussed.
Journalist from New York and one of rally organisers, Eric Sasson, expressed that the community of writers felt like being "under siege" under the Trump administration and that they were concerned about "what the next four years might bring."
