Malta: EU does not believe in walls or bans - says Mogherini

SOT, Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the European Commission (English): "No I don't think threatened, but I do think there is room for explanations, because sometimes we have the impression that the new administration does not know the European Union in detail, but in Europe details matter."

EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini stressed that US and EU policy on migration differ significantly, in Valletta on Friday, ahead of the EU summit in Malta.

Mogherini stated, "When it comes to a certain approach, for instance to migration, and I think today we will show our way is cooperation and partnership, we do not believe in walls and on bans."

In response to a question on the threat of the US administration, President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker responded, "No I don't think threatened, but I do think there is room for explanation, because sometimes we have the impression that the new administration does not know the European Union in detail, but in Europe details matter."

EU leaders are expected to discuss Brexit and migration, focusing on the Meditarranean route and Libya.
