Hungary: Orban and Putin meet in Budapest
The Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban hosted Russian President Vladimir Putin for bilateral talks in Budapest on Thursday. Orban welcomed the Russian leader at the Hungarian Parliament Building, before both men proceeded into a closed-door meeting.
The renewed violence in eastern Ukraine is expected to dominate the talks. However, the two leaders are expected to discuss a number of issues including trade and economic cooperation between the countries.
The situation in the eastern Ukraine started deteriorating on Monday with both sides accusing each other of ceasefire violations. Shelling has intensified in the area during the last few days, with reports of several deaths among the civilian population.
