USA: White House Press Sec discusses withdrawal from TTP, cooperation with Russia
SOT, Journalist (English): "You've got this idea of doing joint military actions with Russia in Syria, is that --"
SOT, Sean Spicer, White House Press Secretary, (English): "I think if there is a way that we can combat ISIS with any country, whether it's Russia or anyone else, and we have a shared national interest in that, sure we'll take it."
SOT, Sean Spicer, White House Press Secretary, (English): "It is; it is an honour to do that. And yes, I think that we have to be honest with the American people. I think that sometimes we can disagree with the facts, there are certain things that we may not fully understand when we come out, but our intention is never to lie to you, Jonathan."
White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer spoke to the press from Washington DC, on Monday, where he discussed the recent decision of newly elected US President Donald Trump to withdraw from the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP).
He said, "TPP is a multilateral agreement that includes the United States and 11 other countries. As the president has said many times, this type of multinational agreement is not in our best interest and he's moving quickly to advance trade policies that increase the competitiveness of the American worker and manufacturer."
Spicer also discussed possible cooperation with Russia, in Syria, to combat the self-proclaimed Islamic State, (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL). He said, "I think if there is a way that we can combat ISIS with any country, whether it's Russia or anyone else, sure we'll take it."
Addressing recent allegations that the Trump administration has misrepresented facts to the press, Spicer stressed, "Our intention is never to lie to you."
