
Argentina: Violence erupts between police and protesters
Police clashed with protesters in Buenos Aires, on Tuesday, in protest against the eviction of around 2000 illegal street vending.
Around 100 protesters blocked off traffic on Rivadavia Avenue, setting fire to dumpsters and throwing stones at the police officers. According to police reports around three protesters were arrested.
Police men began the operation to evict illegal street vendors at dawn. Reportedly around 2000 to 2500 stalls were dismantled; whilst sheds in the neighbourhood were raided and illegal merchandise was seized.
