Mourners honoured the victims of the Tu-154 plane crash in the Black Sea by laying flowers at vigils at the Doctor Liza Fund building and Ostankino telecommunication centre in Moscow on Sunday.

Elizaveta Glinka, known in Russia as 'Doctor Liza' was also on board the aircraft, accompanying a group of humanitarians delivering aid to Latakia. Doctor Liza was a public figure and human rights activist, doctor-resuscitator and director of a 'Fair Help' charity fund known for helping many children with severe diseases and for active fundraising.

The Tu-154 aircraft was bound for the Hmeimim airbase in Syria's Latakia province, carrying the official army choir of the Russian armed forces, the Alexandrov Ensemble, also known as the Red Army Choir. The musicians on board were due to take part in a New Year's performance. The plane crashed just 20 minutes after take-off, from Sochi, early on Sunday.

The Tu-154 plane was carrying 92 people, including 84 passengers and eight crew members. According to the MoD, no survivors have been found at the crash site, while ten bodies have been recovered so far.
