Israel: Former caretaker of Netanyahu's residence detained at anti-corruption protest
Meni Naftali, former caretaker of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's official residence, was detained following scuffles between protesters and police in Petah Tikva, Saturday.
The protesters gathered outside Israeli Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit’s house, demanding him to launch an official criminal investigation on Netanyahu for alleged corruption related to a submarine deal. Police detained Naftali after he allegedly resisted arrest, local media reports said.
Netanyahu's billion-dollar deal with Germany for the acquisition of three new submarines has been met with heavy criticism, after a possible conflict of interest within his inner circle in making the deal.
