Turkey: Russia and Turkey sign 'Turkish Stream' accord
Russia and Turkey signed an agreement for the ‘Turkish Stream’ gas pipeline on the side-lines of the World Energy Congress 2016, in Istanbul, on Monday.
Russian Minister of Energy Alexander Novak and Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Berat Albayrak signed the agreement after the bilateral meeting of Russian and Turkish Presidents.
Putin said that the agreement is the part of the implementation of a plan "to create a big energy hub" in Turkey.
The negotiations on 'Turkish stream' project were suspended in 2015 after Russian-Turkish relationship tensed due to the incident with Russian aircraft SU-24. During the summer of 2016, Russia and Turkey restored their relationship and the negotiations on the project resumed. Erdogan said he hopes "for the normalisation of the Turkish-Russian relations continuing at the full speed."
The Turkish Stream is a gas pipeline project, which will be built on the bottom of the Black Sea, linking Russia to Turkey, and then to extended to Greece.
