USA: Trump dismisses lewd remarks as "locker room talk"
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump dismissed sexually aggressive comments he made about women in a newly-leaked video as "locker room talk" during his second live TV debate against his rival Hillary Clinton in St. Louis, Missouri, Sunday.
"I'm not proud of it", he admitted, in reference to a newly surfaced video from 2005 which shows him bragging how he used his celebrity status to sexually engage with women. "But this is locker room talk", Trump said, adding, "when you have a world where you have ISIS chopping off heads". The candidate went on to deflect from the video, saying "we need to get on to much more important and bigger things."
Footage was released late on Friday, first published by the Washington Post, capturing the Republican nominee talking in the presence of a 'hot mic', as he made vulgar comments about using his status to engage with women. "When you're a star, they let you do it," Trump was caught saying to NBC's Billy Bush, using a host of sexually lewd descriptions. After the video was released Speaker of the House Paul Ryan cancelled a Republican fundraising rally with the presidential hopeful, describing himself as sickened by what he had heard on the tape.
