
Ukraine: Poroshenko leads memorial service for the victims of WWII Babi Yar massacre
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko attended a memorial service on the 75th anniversary of the massacre of 34,000 Jews by the Nazis at Babi Yar during World War II, in Taras Shevchenko National Museum of Kyiv, on Thursday.
Poroshenko stated, "How should we all make sure that the tragedy never repeats again nowadays? So the end of this film will become our motto. Never again. Never again."
President Poroshenko also signed a pledge today to build a new memorial to honour the victims of the massacre which occurred in 1941 over a period of 24 hours, he stated, "For me it is very important that I am as President of Ukraine, as a citizen, and as Ukrainian by birth, along with Vladimir Klitschko, Vitali Klitschko, Svyatoslav Vakarchuk, along with many other Ukrainians initiating the creation of the Memorial."
