USA: 'People are ready to revolt' Green Party's Jill Stein tells RT

United States, Houston
August 6, 2016 at 02:33 GMT -00:00 · Published

The Green Party's presumptive presidential nominee Jill Stein said the American people are "ready to revolt," during an interview with RT in Houston, Friday, on the sidelines of the Green Party's Presidential Nominating Convention.

"You know, people are ready to revolt and my campaign is the one campaign, the one national campaign that does not accept the poisoned sponsorship of corporations, of lobbyists and super-PACS," she said. "This is what people are looking for."

Stein went on to describe her platform in detail saying her campaign provides a "unique ability to stand up for what the American people are clamouring for." She called for an emergency jobs programme "to put people back to work with good wages" and for an emergency climate programme as part of that jobs programme "so we can solve these two crises at once."

The Green Party Convention will conclude on August 7. Stein and her vice-presidential candidate Ajamu Baraka are favourites to win the party's nomination.
