France: Portuguese and Croatian fans paint the town red ahead of Euro showdown

Croatian and Portuguese fans geared up for their national teams' final 16 match in the 2016 Euro Cup in Lens, Saturday.

Starting from early afternoon, dozens of Croatian supporters dressed in white and red checkered T-shirts sat in several bars in the city's downtown, singing national songs and chants, warming up ahead of the evening fixture. Portuguese fans also were seen around the city dressed in their colours and chanting national songs.

The match between Croatia and Portugal will kick off at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis arena in Lens at 21:00 local time (19:00 GMT) on Saturday.

The 2016 UEFA Euro Cup is being held in France between June 10 and July 10 with matches to be played in 10 different locations, including Bordeaux, Lens, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Nice, Paris, Saint-Denis, Saint-Etienne, and Toulouse. A total of 24 European national teams qualified for the Euro Cup final tournament in 2016.
