Spain: Around 1,300 turn out to support Spanish Legion in Barcelona
Around 1,300 people participated in a protest against Catalonia's self-determination and independence, and in support of the Spanish Legion, in Barcelona, Saturday.
Demonstrators carried flags while singing their anthems in front of the Catalan Government offices at Palau de la Generalitat. The Legion's members are against the Catalan government's decision to close a former training complex in Sant Andreu.
The Spanish Legion is a unit of the Spanish army which was established in the 1920s. The Legion had a major role in the Spanish civil war and is still operational to this day.
